Buying a Waterproof Pop Up Gazebo

Pop up gazebos are great for use on a hot summer’s day when shaded areas are needed. Whether you need to keep food and drink under some kind of shelter, or just want to remain cool at a garden party, these temporary structures can offer cheap and easy solutions. Unfortunately many of the gazebos currently on the market do not fair too well in less than favourable weather conditions. A lot of the cheaper plastic and aluminium models are not suitable for use in heavy rain or in windy conditions. Their supporting frames are simply not sturdy enough to remain safe in these conditions. These are the times when a waterproof pop up gazebo with a steel frame will really begin to prove itself as a worthwhile purchase.
When looking for a gazebo that will be able to perform well in poor weather conditions, you really must think of the quality of a product over its cost. Trying to save money by purchasing a structure that is cheap, but only designed for use in fair weather will end up costing you more in the long run as you will need to purchase a new gazebo after realising you made a mistake in your initial purchase. The quality of the canvas which forms the roof should be checked in any gazebo you are thinking about buying. A fully waterproof, 300d commercial grade polyester canvas should be sufficient in wet conditions. 600d polyester will be even better and should be purchased wherever possible.
The frames of any waterproof pop up gazebos you are thinking about purchasing should also be checked, it is best to look for steel frames as these will be the strongest available. Wet conditions will often be accompanied by very strong winds so a pop up gazebo must be not just waterproof, but sturdy as well. All good quality structures should be produced from steel that has already been treated to help it resist the effects of corrosion, but make sure you check for this. Galvanized steel is a good quality material that is commonly used. Finally, have a look at the guide rope system and check that it will be sufficient to keep your gazebo securely in place during strong winds. You should always use the guide ropes in all but the finest weather conditions, no matter whether you have a waterproof pop up gazebo with sides or without.
The most important thing to consider when purchasing one of these gazebos is how it will stand up to poor conditions. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the range of different products on offer, and do not be tempted to try and make a short term saving by sacrificing quality for low costs. Also consider the alternatives to gazebos that can be used provide shelter from the elements such as a patio cover or awning.
